[Video] We carried him for a mile…
We searched these woods for hours for an extremely emaciated dog a Good Samaritan saw earlier while walking her dogs. Due to daylight savings, we were losing light really quick and about to give up. THAT’S when we spotted him curled up in a tiny ball…Everyone, meet Matlock.

Good Morning, from angel boy Matlock.
UPDATE:
He got a lot of R&R the last few days, and today he felt strong enough to go to the yard and do some sniffing.
It hurts to look at him, but he is doing really good. He is so strong and brave, we are so proud of him.
For now, we are feeding him very small amounts, several times a day to avoid “refeeding syndrome,” which can be deadly if a dog this starved is introduced to food too quickly. He also has an open tumor on his side, which our doctors will take a look at today and take samples. We’ll provide updates when we get results back!
Matlock was feeling puny today, so we got him out of the clinic, got him in some koala bear jammies, and a change of scenery. He gets to sit with Sonja at the front desk and listen to Christmas jazz. Sweet man. He’s gaining weight slowly, but it’s hard on his body because he has no muscle. Slow and steady, buddy. You got this.
